The Tennessee Valley Authority has named Kevin Michael as the next site vice president for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant effective May 22. He will fill the role previously held by Tom Marshall, who is retiring.

“Kevin brings proven, operationally focused leadership experience within TVA and from his time in the U.S. Army,” said Tim Rausch, TVA’s chief nuclear officer. “We also thank Tom for his tremendous 30-plus year career at TVA, as well as his leadership while at Sequoyah. We wish him well in retirement. Kevin, along with our other talented team members, will help us continue our journey to be the top nuclear fleet in the nation.”

Mr. Michael most recently served as plant manager at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. He has also served as assistant plant manager and corporate functional area manager (CFAM) for maintenance with the Fleet Center.

Mr. Michael joined TVA’s engineering department in 2007, excelling in Operations as a senior reactor operator and shift manager, and in his roles as Engineering Rapid Response Manager, Operations Support Superintendent, Ops Superintendent, and Maintenance Director.

A U.S. Army veteran who served five years as a combat airborne engineering sapper, Mr. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has also completed the Eckerd College Leadership Development Program.

Located near Chattanooga, Sequoyah Nuclear Plant has two pressurized water reactors that produce about five percent of TVA’s total generation capacity.
