Ozzie Martinez drove in pinch-runner Casio Grider with a run in the top of the ninth and reliever Pedro Baez set the Smokies down in order in the bottom of the ninth to end the game. Baez collected his second save.

Lookouts' starter Tyson Brummett pitched 4.0 scoreless innings giving up 4 walks while fanning 2 batters. Reliever Craig Stem threw 2.0 innings and winning pitcher Mike Thomas went two innings.

The Lookouts scattered eight hits and stranded 11 runners. Chattanooga went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

The Smokies were held to just four hits.

The Lookouts and Smokies meet again at Smokies Park at 7:15 p.m. Lefty Chris Reed will be on the hill for Chattanooga.
