Jo Ann Hart Pugh died on June 13, 2014.

She was born May 5, 1939 in Chattanooga. She loved growing flowers, gardening canning fresh vegetables and cooking.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Garland Vaughn “Pete” Pugh, in 2002. Also preceding her was her mother, Lorelle Howell, father, James D. Hart, beloved sister, Jimmie Lou Taylor, and niece Kim Boydston along with several treasured members of her extended family.

Jo Ann is survived by her children, Jimmy Ray (Elaine) Pugh, Steve (Amy) Pugh, Leanda “Lee Ann” Pugh-Murray (Roger), David Pugh, Traci (Kris) Phillips, Shannon Pugh, Trevor Pugh, and Hannah Pugh, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike, Terry and Chris Howell; sister, Mary Clyde (Earl) Laymons, and a host of extended family members, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also left to cherish her memories are her best friends, sister and brother in life and the Lord, Ruth and Harrison Chandler.

At Jo Ann’s request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery on Thursday, June 19, with Brother David Stancil and Brother Mike Howell presiding. The family and friends will gather in front of the Cemetery Office at 9:45 a.m. for procession to the site and memorial service at 10 a.m.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Donna Gudel whose loving care and assistance to our Mom was immeasurable. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga in Mom’s name.
