Cecil Ray Morgan, 74, passed from this life, opening his eyes in Glory on May 16, 2025.

He was born on February 23, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was honored to be “birthday buddies” with his granddaughter, Lainey and great-granddaughter, Haize. Cecil’s life was defined by faith, loyalty and service.

Cecil was a member of Rechoboth Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving and worshipping with his family. Cecil was a man of faith and taught his family to love and serve Jesus, his Lord and Savior. No family gathering was complete without Cecil’s humble and heartfelt prayer over his family.

Cecil built a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Judy, of 54 years. Together they raised four daughters, Rhonda (Mike Henson). Amy (Heath Young, Stacy (Michael Tipton) and Rebecca Morgan (Jason Chauncey). Cecil’s favorite people in the world were his six grandchildren, Robbie (Kim Harvey), Morgan (Jamie Harvey), Haven (Bobby Miller), Dallas (Caleb Craig), Lainey Young and Gracie Tipton; along with eight great-grandchildren, Lilah Harvey, Reese Harvey, Georgia Ray Harvey, Stella Harvey, Rayfe Miller, Haize Harvey, Dawson Craig and Ripp Miller. He was ‘Papaw” to most, but to one he was “Papa”. Either way, he will always be the best man they’ve ever known. Cecil is also survived by his four brothers, Benny, Johnny, George and Mitchell Morgan.

Cecil was the ultimate provider, he worked to ensure his family had everything they needed. Cecil wore many hats throughout the years, but no job was too small to be sure his family was cared for. He retired after 30 years of service with the United States Postal Service. His servant’s heart was evident in everything he did.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, the late George and Margaret Morgan, his brother, Dennis Morgan and his great-granddaughter, Emma Ray Harvey.

Cecil left a legacy of faith, Love and unwavering devotion. He will be forever missed and always remembered.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tennessee Oncology Group and Hearth Hospice for their extraordinary Care.

Visitation is from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Rechoboth Baptist Church with services following at 2 p.m. with his grandson, Robbie Harvey providing the eulogy and Pastor Alan Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Buttram Cemetery.
