Otis Ray Frederick, 77, of Soddy Daisy, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.

Otis was a lifelong resident of Soddy Daisy and was retired from DuPont. He graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1955 and served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He taught Sunday School and sang in church for many years. Otis was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of North Hixson Church of God. Otis loved being in church worshiping the Lord and spending time with his family.

He was the son of the late Herbert and Gladys Crowe Frederick and was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Frederick, Ashland City, Tn.; two sisters, Beatrice Frederick Johnston, Odessa, Tx., and Glendora Frederick, Soddy Daisy.

Otis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Joyce Yother Frederick; two daughters he loved dearly, Vanessa Frederick, Soddy Daisy and Rhonda (Jeff) Pemberton, Sale Creek; six grandchildren, Laura (Marcus) Yother Andreasen, Justin (Renee) Yother, Eric (Whitney) Yother, Daniel (Kaitlyn) Pemberton, Jessica and Joshua Pemberton; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Dennis, Ryleigh, Candyce, Caydence, Kayleigh and Natalie Yother, MiKayla and Destiny Lewis; brother, Calvin (Melba) Frederick, Soddy Daisy; two sisters, Pauline (Charles) Grant and Freda (Ray) Wilson both of Soddy Daisy; sisters-in-law, Brenda Frederick, Ashland City, Tn., Margaret (Leland) Millsaps and Margie (Eddy) Walker both of Soddy Daisy and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 28,at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. Pallbearers are Justin Yother, Eric Yother, Daniel Pemberton, Joshua Pemberton, Marcus Andreasen and Freddy Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Pemberton and Ryan Dennis.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 27, from 2-9 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to North Hixson Church of God, 5428 Cassandra Smith Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Moore Smith’s office, Hospice of Chattanooga’s Dayton, Tn. office and a special home health nurse, Tiffanie Sewell.
