James Willie Smith, 82, of Flintstone, Georgia, died on Monday, March 16, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was a member of the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in the Korean War. He retired from Chattem, Inc. in 1996 after more than 39 years of service as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Ravenia VerniceSmith, parents; Willie E. and Mary Katherine Smith; brothers; Tim and Johnny Smithand sister, Bonnie Farley.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James Michael and (Patricia) Smith of Rock Springs, Georgia, Randall Lee and (Rebekah) Smith of Flintstone; two grandchildren, Jamie and (Stuart) Davis of Chatsworth, GA and Zachary and (Jessi) Smithof Chickamauga; two step-grandchildren, Carter and Katie Gravitt; three brothers, Sammy Smith, Carl Smith, both of Signal Mountain, and Ronnie Smith of Smyrna, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend John C. Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
