Lee University will hold the Indie Christian Artist & Songwriter’s Workshop Monday from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Choral Rehearsal Room, in the Curtsinger Music Building.

The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to hear two-time Dove Award winner and Lee artist-in-residence Babbie Mason speak on what she loves most. She will offer suggestions for Christian artists on ways to get into the music industry, using technology and the internet to their advantage. Song writing will be emphasized, and attendees will have the opportunity for their songs to be heard and critiqued by Ms. Mason.

“Babbie is a ‘mover and shaker’ in the Christian music industry,” said Randy Sheeks, assistant professor of music at Lee. “She has great passion for developing talent and helping independent artists get started.”

Ms. Mason is an award-winning recording artist, songwriter, author, and conference speaker. She has written and recorded hundreds of songs over a 30 year ministry and career, and has recorded 25 music projects. She is also the author of four books, two women’s Bible studies, and travels in ministry full time.

Ms. Mason hosts the Inner Circle, an Indie music boot camp for aspiring singers and songwriters. She has been a member of Lee’s music faculty for nearly 20 years, where she teaches a songwriting class each spring.

“Lee students love her and greatly benefit from her teaching. I’m so glad she has agreed to do this workshop for Lee students and the greater Cleveland/Chattanooga community,” said Mr. Sheeks.

This free, non-ticketed event is open to the public.
