The Chattanooga Football Club earned a new title on Saturday night after beating the USL PDL champion Michigan Bucks 3-0. The title is the best amateur soccer team in the nation. The trophy is the Hank Steinbrecher Trophy and it belongs in Chattanooga now.
The tournament brings the four teams from the top four amateur leagues together for a four team tournament.
Chattanooga's first and second goal on Saturday came late in the first half. The first goal was scored when Leo de Smedt converted on a pass from Luke Winter.
The second came off Chris Ochieng's foot after and assist by John Finlay and Winter.
The score remained 2-0 until injury time when Snoopy Davidson scored to give CFC a 3-0 lead.
CFC goalkeeper Greggo Hartley snares a Michigan shot-on-goal during Chattanooga's 3-0 victory to win the Hank Steinbrecher Cup. Hartley pitched his second shutout in two nights to help the CFC wrap-up the U.S. National Amateur Soccer Championship.
