The Walker County Chamber of Commerce is launching the #ShopWalker campaign to provide information for residents who want to shop local this holiday season.
Small Business Saturday will be held in Walker County on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
"Small Business Saturday, a national event, was initiated seven years ago and has proven to be a successful way for small businesses to leverage the popularity of post-Thanksgiving shopping to attract new and returning customers.
More than 95 million shoppers participated in Small Business Saturday in 2015, and the Walker County Chamber of Commerce hopes to bring a portion of that success to Walker County’s small businesses in 2016," officials said.
The Chamber has created a #ShopWalker – Holiday Gift Guide on Facebook to give businesses the opportunity to showcase their holiday promotions and merchandise. Customers in search of holiday gifts can also post to the group to be connected with local businesses who can meet their needs.
“This is a great way for local businesses to share their holiday sales and gift ideas with the community, and also to connect shoppers who are looking for specific items without having to leave the area,” said Lacey Wilson, president of the Walker County Chamber of Commerce.
Shoppers should also keep an eye out for special selfie cutouts and Shop Local tote bags at stores throughout the community on Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday shopping season. Participants can share their photos using the #ShopWalker hashtag to promote shopping local among their contacts.
