Multiple shots were fired at two teens in East Chattanooga on Monday afternoon.

Montrell Franklin, 18, was in critical condition

Telly Petty, also 18, was shot twice, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Chattanooga Police responded at 4:45 p.m. to the 1500 block of Arlington Avenue on the report of a shooting. There police located two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victims were in the street when a suspect approached them on foot. The suspect fired multiple rounds toward the two victims.

Montrell Franklin received "multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds."

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment by Hamilton County EMS.

The suspect is described as a black male with dark-colored shorts or pants, and a light-colored shirt.

Chattanooga Police Violent Crimes Bureau Investigators are actively following all actionable leads.

Franklin was charged last November with carrying a weapon.

Then in January he was charged with firing multiple shots at a 16-year-old as he walked down the 1000 block of North Hickory Street with a friend. That case was later dismissed for lack of proof.

Franklin was arrested in February on multiple charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated assault, evading arrest and traffic infractions.
