Chattanooga Elite youth basketball teams represented the Scenic City well this past week as the 5th grade squad finished second at the National Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) tournament in Orlando and the 13U team took third in the National AAU 13U D-II event in Greensboro, N.C.
Chattanooga Elite 5th Grade: Florida defeated Chattanooga 46-25 in the national finals after Chattanooga, coached by Steve Robison of Berean Academy, had defeated teams from Texas, North Carolina and Oklahoma in earlier rounds.

Chattanooga Elite 13U: Chattanooga defeated Severn, 61-57 OT, for the place in the 13U D-II national event.
Eric Rivers scored 24 points and Traveon Scott had a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards.
Chattanooga trailed by nine at halftime and was down four after the third quarter before tying the game at in regulation, 54-54.
“I am extremely proud of these kids as they set high goals for themselves, won the state title and finished third in the nation in D-II,” said coach Leroy Alexander.
“I am impressed with how they stepped up to the challenge all season, did what the coaches asked them to do and trusted our system.”
Kudos: The 13U coaches and players are thankful for pastor Roger Ware at New Monumental Baptist Church for letting them practice all season in the church gym.
