Will Unity Survive? - And Response

  • Wednesday, June 14, 2017
I saw a cartoon on an editorial page a few days after 9/11.  Two aged veterans were walking down a street with American flags in every window, patriotic signs in many yards and with Autumn leaves falling from over hanging trees lining the street.  One of the ageing veterans turned to the other and said, "You know, I don't believe I can remember a more colorful Autumn than this."

But soon, just as the frost and coolness that comes with Autumn removed the colors from the leaves, and every day struggles of life removed the flags from the windows and patriotic reminders the terribleness of 9/11 was forgotten.
Churches once more were no longer overflowing and names of 9/11's fallen were engraved on stones and then forgotten.

Let us pray together that this pledge of unity will not be a temporary phase only to be forgotten when the next Caucus, roll call vote or Investigation takes place.  America must not continue to be divided.  A house divided against  itself cannot stand.

Amen, Bobby, Amen.

I pray every night that God will bless the President, give him knowledge and compassion, keep the administration safe as well as all of America.  Then I come here to this page and read the opinions of Trump haters who call him every name imaginable.  It's a national disgrace how the politics of this country have turned citizen against citizen rather than a teaching moment to work together to make this country great, safe and secure.

Now, besides worrying about the next radical terrorist attacker, we have to look twice at our neighbors because political terrorism is taking over this country.  Students burning down buildings, freedom of speech being squelched, coaches being fired for praying at the end of a game while safe pray rooms are being established for the students who follow Islam,
