Charles Smith
Charles C. Smith, Jr. (Smitty), 87, of Chattanooga went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 10, 2017.
A 1949 graduate of Central High School, he served as a dental technician in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Smith was an active member at Highland Park Baptist and Stanley Heights Baptist for many years where he sang in the choirs, served in the nursing home ministries and church maintenance.
He enjoyed boating and fishing in the local lakes around Chattanooga and was a model train enthusiast along with his love for music.
He worked at Capital Audio Visual for many years before retiring from Southern Champion Tray in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Friddell) Smith, and parents, Charles Smith, Sr. and Eda Mae Green.
He is survived by his daughters, Janet (Gary) Hewitt and Brenda (Richard) Durham; grandchildren, Christopher Hewitt, April Durham, Ashley (Jeremy) Agard; great-grandsons, Brody and Isaiah Hewitt, all of Chattanooga.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 13, at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Roy Seals officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rick Durham, Gary Hewitt, Christopher Hewitt, Brody Hewitt, Jeremy Agard, Tommy Holsopple and Jonathan Holsopple serving as pallbearers.
