Gary Drew Burchell, Sr., 67, formerly of Chattanooga and a graduate of Tyner High School, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, at his home in Montgomery, Alabama.
Gary was born on Feb. 13, 1951, to Clayton Jackson Burchell, Sr. and the late Myrtle Mae Gover Burchell in Athens, Al. He obtained an associate’s degree in electronics and served proudly in the United States Air Force for 30 years as security police and later provided surveillance for Indian facilities. While stationed in the Philippines, Gary met the love of his life, Susana Agbayani Burchell.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery. During his spare time you could find Gary on a dock fishing, enjoying his family at the house on the back porch, or vacationing in Florida to enjoy the saltwater and fish.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Mae Gover Burchell, his brother, Clayton Jackson Burchell, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susana A. Burchell; his father, Clayton Jackson Burchell, Sr.; his 4 children and their spouses, Susana Lynn Crocker (Wayne), Gary Drew Burchell, Jr. (Jessica), Angela Dee Hobbs (Wesley), and Joseph Bradley Burchell (Carol); his sisters and brothers-in-law, June Cannella (Hugh) and Lynn Poe (Wayne) of Tennessee; his sisters-in-law, Becky Burchell of Tennessee, Helen Carroll (Paul) and Delia Maurico (Harry) of Texas; Remy Blount of Virginia; Cora Acacio (Jesse), Marina. Minnick, Lita Agbayani (Francisco), and Dina Balbuena (Edwardo) of Oklahoma; his ten beloved grandchildren, Sylvia, Alissa, Aaron, Mark, Saffiera, Athena, Aurora, Alexander, Grace, and Collin; and his extended family and friends.
