Dalton State picked up their second straight Southern States Athletic Conference victory with 2-1 win over Florida College at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex in Dalton on Saturday morning.
(DS 1-0): After a scoreless first half, the Lady Roadrunners got on the board first with a goal by Keyle Snyder in the 50'. Snyder went in unassisted and beat FC goalkeeper Victoria Fullagar to the right.
(FC 1-1): Kiara Romero received a lead pass from Michaela Nicholson in the 60' and skipped it past an oncoming Mattie Dollar, beating the Lady Roadrunner netminder to tie the score.
(DS 2-1): A throw-in from Caylee Carpenter in the FC zone of the field was taken by Sarah Chamale, who beat a double team and knocked it in the bottom left of the net to retake the lead.
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (6-5, 2-1 SSAC) with the win, while Florida College falls to (6-3-1, 0-3-1 SSAC) with the loss.
Shots were a tie at 10 apiece with the Lady Birds holding the advantage (7-4) on goal. Sarah Chamale led Dalton State with three shots on goal, while Mattie Dollar had three saves.
Brianna Luna had the most shots for the Lady Falcons with two. Luna also led the team in shots on goal, with Victoria Fullagar saving five balls.
The Lady Roadrunners will travel to Mount Vernon for a match with the Lady Barons of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Saturday, October 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
