The U.S. Department of Education’s Assistant Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education Frank Brogan visited two schools in Hamilton County on Tuesday.
First, Secretary Brogan toured Tyner Academy at 11:30 a.m. He visited the three Future Ready Institutes on campus, which prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in high-demand fields such as teaching, technology, and health sciences. He was joined by Dr. Bryan Johnson, superintendent of Hamilton County Schools, and Dr. Valerie Rutledge, dean of the College of Health, Education and Professional Studies at UTC, among others.
Afterwards, Secretary Brogan visited Ivy Academy, a public charter school in Soddy-Daisy. The school was recognized as a Green Ribbon School in 2013 and partners with Tennessee State Parks to give students access to instruction by park rangers.
