Chattanooga Area Food Bank To Distribute USDA Food On Saturday

  • Tuesday, December 10, 2019

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (Food Bank) will distribute food from the USDA through The Emergency Food Assistance Program in Hamilton County for qualifying Tennessee residents only on Saturday.

The quarterly drive-through-style food distribution, commonly known as “commodities,” will take place at the Food Bank, 2009 Curtain Pole Road in Chattanooga. This replaces the distribution originally scheduled for this Tuesday.

Food will be distributed from 7-10 a.m., or until it runs out.

In the past, December commodities distributions have been among each year’s busiest, with long lines and wait times, officials said.

Recipients will receive approximately 30 pounds of nutritious foods. Recipients must be Tennessee residents and provide their name, address, monthly income and the number of people in their household per USDA regulations. Those wishing to pick up food on behalf of someone else must present an authorization form which must be obtained prior to Saturday from the Food Bank, 2009 Curtain Pole Road in Chattanooga.
