Cardiovascular Symposium Is Feb. 8, 2020

The Chattanooga Heart Institute and CHI Memorial will host the 2020 Annual Chattanooga Cardiovascular Symposium on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Embassy Suites,, 2321 Lifestyle Way in Chattanooga, from 8 a.m.-4:40 p.m.  C. Samuel Ledford, M.D., FACC, and Mark C. Thel, M.D., FACC are the program directors.  A maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits have been requested.
 
Symposium topics include: When should primary preventive therapies be stopped in the elderly?; sleep apnea and cardiac implications; mitral valve disease – who and when to refer; mechanical heart failure therapies; atrial fibrillation: rate, rhythm, and stroke; deep vein thrombosis/pulmonary embolism diagnosis and treatment; aortic valve disease – when to replace and who; antiplatelet/anticoagulation regimens – Is there a still a role for aspirin?; Do we need stents anymore? What is the data?; coronary calcium scoring – an unrecognized tool; CHF – outpatient management; TMO, SPECT, PET – Which stress test do I order?; treatment of hypertension in February 2020; lipid management – time to get serious about triglycerides; EKG – the patterns you absolutely need to know; peripheral artery disease – What I need to know; and diabetic therapies to reduce cardiovascular disease risk.
 
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of internal medicine physicians, family medicine physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, nurses, interns and residents in primary care specialties, and medical and nursing students involved in the cardiac care of patients. 
 
The fee is $125 for physicians, $70 for advanced practice clinicians and $35 for allied health professionals.
