Charlene Murray
Charlene Ruth Murray was born on May 28, 1954, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Henry and Palestine Murray. She departed this life on April 17, 2019.
Charlene dedicated her life to the Lord in her adult years. She moved to New York in 1979, and attended St. Philip Baptist Church where she was active in the nursing ministry. She was employed at Staten Island University Hospital and spent many years there before moving back to Chattanooga after her retirement. She was hardworking, diligent, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Korlon "Tony" Murray, of Atlanta; granddaughter, DeShayla Morris, of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Traysen Jamir Moore, of Chattanooga; brother, Henry Murray, of Atlanta; sisters, Deborah Steward, of Scottsboro, Al., and Thelma Murray, of Orlando; uncle, Charles W. Springfield, of San Francisco; nephews, Chelson (Shauna) Cooper, of Merrill, Wi., and Adrian (Tamara) Steward, of Chattanooga; special niece, Patrice Murray, of Chattanooga; great-nephew, Khalil Spence, of Chattanooga, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, at Galilee Baptist Church. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
