Mildred S. “Midge” Richards, age 95, of Pleasant Hill Drive, Dalton, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 following a brief illness.
Mrs. Richards was born July 12, 1923 in Gordon County, Ga., daughter of the late Charlie W. Smith, Sr. and Eunice Williams Smith. Until her retirement Mrs. Richards had been employed with Carolyn Products as a customer service and logistics representative.
Mrs. Richards was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church, former Sunday School teacher, member of the Prayer Worriers Sunday School Class and the Dalton Homemakers where she had received numerous awards for floral design, arrangement and presentation.
She was also a member of Hamilton Hospice where she had volunteered for over 25 years. Mrs. Richards had a tremendous love and passion for her community, serving others and her family.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Glenn Richards in 1996; a granddaughter, Jennifer Diane Richards Davis in 2014; and a brother, Charlie W. “Bud” Smith, Jr. in 2008.
Survivors include two sisters and brother-in-law, Frances Crossen Bryant (Winfred) and Ola Mae Ray, both of Dalton; step-son and daughter-in-law, Marvin N. Richards (Judy) of Rome, Ga.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie G. Bridges and Reverend Marty Greene officiating. Burial will be at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 24, from 1 p.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.
