Thrivent Financial Partners With Habitat For Humanity Of Greater Chattanooga On Faith Build House

Monday, July 22, 2019

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga is partnering with Thrivent Financial on a home that will be built by members of Chattanooga’s faith-based community.  Located at 2026 Bachman Ave., the house under construction is being built for a single mom of two.

"Raquel Wilson is a Chattanooga native, who works full-time and is enrolled at Chattanooga State with a goal of becoming a dental hygienist," officials said.  "As the active mom of two, Raquel has also been busy with Habitat’s classes and volunteer hours required for homeownership."

Ms. Wilson noted that while there have been a few frustrations in managing everything, the process has prepared her for all that home ownership requires. “The Habitat process has been very challenging, but it’s taught me a lot about patience," she said.

“The partnership with Habitat is a natural fit for us,” said Mark Gluckner, financial consultant at Thrivent Financial. “As Raquel completes her journey to a permanent home, she will be able to focus on what’s truly important in life. We encourage our members to ‘be wise with money’ and for us, there’s no better investment than the stability a home can bring to a family. We know home ownership changes the life not only of the owner, but also for future generations.”

Habitat’s Director of Development noted that the Thrivent Faith Build is one of the organizations' most special builds of the year. “Chattanooga is a community of faith,” said Dominique Brandt. When people come together to support efforts like this the result is transformational - not only for the family, but oftentimes for those involved in the build as well. We are grateful for the partnership and the leadership Thrivent Financial is providing and look forward to the day the Wilson family opens the door to their new home."

Erlanger's Problems Started Long Before Will Jackson

I, too, am a former Erlanger employee. I loved my 28 years there and was devastated when I was laid off three years ago. Roy, I find it incredulous that you think that Erlanger’s downward spiral began in the few short months that Will Jackson has taken the helm. It started when Kevin Spiegel started the “ no divert” policy. This policy put undo pressure on every ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: The Side Of Freedom

J.R.R Tolkien, who quite famously wrote books like ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’, made a very astute observation one day before he died almost 50 years ago. “All we have to decide is what to do with the time given us.” None of us knows when the bell will toll, so my sole responsibility is to squeeze the most and best and brightest out of “the time given me” and I enjoy ...
