A Sad Party For America

  • Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Candidates for the Democrat nomination for president are showing us why they may be the worst pool of aspirants in almost 150 years in a sharply divided party.

A sometimes confused Joe Biden leads in polling. So frequent were Joe’s foibles his team cut back on his live appearances recently. On Tuesday his first TV ad premiered describing Joe as strong, steady and stable. But the Joe Biden we see on TV is more like Rumpelstiltskin than American statesmen of the past. Also coincidentally his physician released a report claiming Joe is as sharp now as he was 31 years ago. Are we supposed to be somehow reassured by that statement?

While most octogenarians might be enjoying an Early Bird dinner, Joe had been out there talking about foreign policy, shutting down the fossil fuel industry, making trade deals with China, tariffs, nuclear proliferation with Iran, more gun laws, immigration, and repealing tax cuts all the while showing concerning signs of confusion and fumbling. That’s flat scary folks. Those Chinese Joe loves so well will be just gleeful at the thoughts of him being president.

Donald Trump drew nearly 20,000 to his New Hampshire rally last week. So Biden’s team must have felt it necessary to trot Joe out in Iowa on Tuesday. He spoke to barely 100 people which included his staff and a brigade of fawning reporters. His stumbling comments regarding major events and cultural changes in different decades left the audience puzzled. Of course none of the leftist news saw fit to report this gaffe. But when Trump referred to the colonial army “taking the airports,” every major news service hammered this relentlessly 24/7. Even Mick Jagger felt compelled to comment on it.

Comrade Bernie, hot four years ago, is stagnant today because his promise of unlimited free stuff has been hijacked. No worry, the old Bolshevik is really just writing another book to make more millions of capitalist dollars. Bernie knows what he’s doing.

Over the weekend Elizabeth Warren was doing the mea maxima culpa of all time. Let’s leave the jokes about hatchets to TV comics because her performance was really just pathetic. She’s no different than the millionaire celebs buying their kids way into exclusive colleges claiming they were athletes. I imagine the mullahs of Iran hope to be dealing with her in two years.

Kamala Harris tanking in the polls has been good news for Joe. It should keep him dozing on his dinosaur raft in the pool until the next debate. The rest of the candidates are like ducks at a worm farm busy scrambling to get a couple of percentage points to be eligible for Debate III.

One of the most bizarre happenings so far is news that DNC Chairman Tom Perez is holding three fundraisers in of all places, Mexico City Sept. 28 (Bloomberg News, Aug. 20, 2019). Here’s the irony. Only American citizens can attend and contribute and must show ID. Who is verifying only citizens are attending and contributing? And who are these citizens?

Foiled on Russia, flopping on racism, failing to confiscate assault rifles, a divided and angry party has taken a new tactic. Throughout the leftist news media now is the unison chant of recession. Late night lefty Bill Maher doesn’t hide his longing for an economic collapse. So what if people lose their jobs or businesses, millionaire Maher doesn’t care about that. But if this scheme fails like Hillary’s election night fireworks, what’s next?

These are the tactics of a divided party full of failed promises and failed policies. In his absence, Biden’s wife has emerged. Her message is, you may not like his policies or he make not be inspiring, but the bottom line is we have to beat Donald Trump. That’s it folks, they’ve really got nothing but “beat Donald Trump.”  And all they have is a confused elderly gentleman that can’t even get Barrack Obama’s ringing endorsement. A friendly news media can’t hide his stumbling for the next 14 months. Is that the future you want for your children and grandchildren?
