Patricia Hale Whitaker, 79, a native of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020.

Pat was a guidance counselor at Ooltewah Middle School. She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1958. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chattanooga and University Tennessee, respectively. She was a member of the Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers’ Association and the ALPHA Society. She attended the Unitarian Universalist Church. Pat enjoyed playing tennis, being in nature, traveling with Colbert, and being a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Ruth Hale; and sister, Sandra Packard.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Colbert Whitaker; son, Mark (Ji-Un Lee) Whitaker of Seoul, South Korea; daughter, Kimberly (Matt) Ashton of Athens, Greece; grandchildren, Chase, Brooke and Luke; nephew, Scott Packard; and niece, Shauna (Mike) McCabe.

Friends, coworkers, relatives, and church members are invited to a Celebration of Life on Jan. 17, from 2-5 p.m. at The Walden Club.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund.
