Nikki's Still Open - But Probably Not For Long

The famed Nikki's Drive In on the hill in North Chattanooga is still open, but probably not for long. A residential project has been approved at the site and the bulldozer is headed this way.

Employees don't know when the final day will be.

But they do know that traffic is definitely up as the legion of Nikki's fans line up to enjoy the 1950s experience one more time.

They will see the familiar juke box, the high school sports plaques, the signs that say two to a booth please and the wooden doors for the restrooms with the quaint gentleman and lady figures above.

They will also see Linda the waitress who has been there 35 years, the two ladies in the back who went to work there even earlier and the familiar cook with two decades of service.

Enjoy it while you can.
