Black Granite Slabs At County Jail Are Very Heavy And Dangerous

Re: Section falling off the County Jail:

Many years ago as a young man, I worked for Robbins Engineering, the company that built the county jail. I was an assistant of sort to the civil engineer for two years.

The black slabs on the jail are actually African black granite (quarried in Angola) provided through a contract with Mt. Airy Granite Company in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.

Each slab is very heavy and would cause tremendous damage if a piece fell off the facade.

Just sharing some memories.
