Peggy Darlene Moates 70, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 28, 2020, surrounded by her family. 

A native of Clarksville, Tn., she has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 35 years and was a member of the Silverdale Baptist Church.  She was retired from Erlanger Medical Center as a registered nurse with over 20 years of service. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Ruth Smith; sister, Elaine Horsley and  brother, Ralph Smith; grandson, Payton Graham.

Peggy is survived by her husband, David Philip Moates; six children, Jason (Kim) McVay, Jeanna (Ben) Quist, Katie (Chris) Knecht, Derek (Tiffany) McVay, Megan (Rusty) Russell, and Mandy Davis.  Peggy was blessed with 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

All covid mandates will be in place at the funeral home, such as wearing a face covering and social distancing.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Valley View Chapel with the Reverend Tony Walliser officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
