Robert J. “Bob” Jerardi, 70, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 1, 2020. 

He was born and grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. 

Bob was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and earned a Master of Science in Health and Public Administration from the University of Cincinnati. He was employed by the Hamilton County Health Department until his retirement. During his tenure Bob rose through the ranks to become the Director of Environmental Health where he instituted health and safety training programs designed to educate childcare workers, restaurant employees, and installers of subsurface sewage disposal systems. Bob’s efforts in public health earned National Association of Counties (NACo) awards for Hamilton County. At the time of his passing Bob was an emeritus member of the National Environmental Health Association. 

From a young age his passion was music; playing the guitar with friends and various bands. During his teen years, Bob received a scholarship to study the double bass with the renowned musician, Bertran Turetzky at the University of Hartford Conservatory.

As a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club he had opportunities to serve the greater Chattanooga Community. 

Bob was a man with a variety of interests, he enjoyed reading many genres of books, writing music, and collecting comic books and original art. His love of dogs was evident to anyone who knew him. 

Bob was of the Catholic faith. Those who knew him well will remember his generosity, kindness, and compassion for others. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra of Chattanooga, brother, Jay Jerardi and sister-in-law, Halina Jerardi of West Hartford, Connecticut. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Jay Jerardi and Ethel King Jerardi of Connecticut.

The family will hold a small, private graveside service due to the current COVID-19 situation. 

Memorial donations may be directed to the Humane Educational Society, 212 N Highland Park Avenue or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, East Brainerd Chapel, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga TN 37421.
