Retired From Erlanger After 30 Years As A Phlebotomist

Betty Jean Malone, 88, a native of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, in a local health care facility.  

She made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus at a very young age.  She retired from Erlanger Hospital after 30 years as a phlebotomist.

Betty was preceded in death by husband, Ollie Malone; daughter, Rosita Ansah; son, Claude Mayes; parents, Tommy and Viola Mayes; sister, Marion Odum. 

Survivors include her son, Anthony Malone of Chattanooga; daughters, Molletta Byrd, Una Malone, Meshell (Robert), Linder, Leetrice (Bobby) King, all of Chattanooga, and Arlean Love of Charlotte; 52 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Charles Mayes of Chicago; sister, Linda Faye Phillips of Chattanooga; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. 

She will lie in state on Sunday, Dec. 20, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

A family service will be on Monday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor John Geeter as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
