Softball Mocs Host Chattanooga Challenge This Weekend In 3-Day Affair

Marshall, Western Kentucky, Bowling Green, Indiana State And Tennessee Tech Set To Compete

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team continues its season-opening home stand this weekend as it hosts the annual Chattanooga Challenge, Friday through Sunday inside both Jim Frost Stadium and neighboring Warner Park Softball Complex.
 
In addition to UTC, five schools will be making their way to the Scenic City for a weekend full of great competition.
The
Mocs will face the likes of Marshall, Western Kentucky, Bowling Green, Indiana State and Tennessee Tech in a three-day span. All games involving the hosts can be streamed LIVE on ESPN3 through the WatchESPN and ESPN App platforms.
 
Chattanooga (1-1) is coming off a doubleheader split against Austin Peay on Sunday, earning an opening game victory in five innings, 9-1, before falling in the finale by a 4-1 tally.

Friday's doubleheader is VALENTINE'S DAY at the park where the first 150 fans will receive FREE candy, in addition to one lucky fan taking home a Puckett's Grocery gift card good for a dinner for TWO (2). Saturday's slate is SINGLES DAY where Jimmy John's single serve subs will be thrown out for every Mocs single hit.

Tickets are on sale now for just $10 per day, or $25 for a full tournament pass. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the gates on game day at the Jim Frost Stadium ticket booth.

SEASON/TEAM NOTABLES | GAME NOTES
· Chattanooga is a combined 144-64 (.640) in non-conference tournament games at home since 1994. UTC is 41-20 (.672) over the past decade between the Chattanooga Challenge and Frost Classic tournament games.
· Celie Hudson was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week following her complete game victory over Austin Peay on Sunday. It's the fifth POTW honor of her career. She moved into a tie for seventh all-time at UTC with her 45th career complete game.
· Seniors Katie Corum and Morgan Kazerooni blasted back-to-back homeruns in the first inning during Sunday's 9-1 win over Austin Peay in game one. Normally a rare feat, the duo marked their second time going back-to-back in a UTC uniform following consecutive homeruns last year at ETSU on April 28.
