Habitat for Humanity’s annual Women Build Jazz Breakfast broke their goal of raising $40,000 at the event held March 7. Jay Robinson of the Robinson Team of Keller Williams Realty served as the presenting sponsor of the breakfast.
Revelers attending the breakfast played ‘Habitat Trivia’ for bragging rights and the text to donate effort raised more than $11,000 in a challenge match by anonymous donors who provided an additional $10,000 to the cause.
Habitat’s Executive Director David Butler said, “Women Build is one of our favorite events of the year. Not only does it empower women in encouraging families as they build strength, stability and independence, but it also provides hands-on learning and skills used to build a home.”
Lori Mitchell of WRCB is serving as this year’s celebrity builder. In her remarks, she noted her excitement in lifting her voice (and a hammer) at the upcoming build. Ms. Mitchell along with dozens of volunteers will be hard at work as fears of the COVID-19 subside.
“We know there’s uncertainty right now about the virus and how it is impacting daily life,” said Mr. Butler, “But we also know the giving nature of Chattanooga and as this situation passes, our volunteers will be on site stronger and healthier than ever in supporting our work. For that, we are extremely grateful.”
