The Susan G. Komen Chattanooga MORE THAN PINK Walk is set for Oct. 25

Susan G. Komen Central Tennessee officially opened registration for the Susan G. Komen Chattanooga MORE THAN PINK Walk. Now in its second year, the MORE THAN PINK Walk brings together an empowered community of hope to raise funds for breast cancer treatment, patient advocacy and lifesaving research.

Last year, Komen debuted the new event (formerly known as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure) with an overwhelmingly positive response. More importantly, last year the Chattanooga and Nashville More Than Pink Walks raised over $538,000 in the fight against breast cancer. The MORE THAN PINK Walk ensures that participants have a clear understanding of the value they provide in Susan G. Komen’s overall mission and how their fundraising makes an impact in our community.

“The MORE THAN PINK Walk provides an opportunity to come together with others to share stories, laughter and tears while uniting behind a commitment to fight this devastating disease by raising money to save lives,” said Dawn Eaton, CEO. “We’re excited about this year’s event and encourage everyone to register and begin fundraising!”

THe Komen Chattanooga MORE THAN PINK Walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Tennessee Riverplace. The $10 Earlybird price is available until May 31. Register online at komencentraltennessee.org

“We look forward to seeing everyone walking on Oct. 25 - a day of inspiration and hope as we honor those we have lost, celebrate those who have survived and support everyone currently living with breast cancer,” added Ms.  Eaton. “Come walk with us!”

Increase The Pay Rate For Substitutes

Today Hamilton County Schools had 138 requests for substitutes. The answer to filing those classrooms is simple, increase the daily pay for substitutes. The pay rate is terrible for both certified and noncertified individuals. Knox County wised up and increased the pay. If a substitute works 10 to 14 days a month, he or she would receive an additional $300. If the person worked ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Why Our West Burns

There have been far more people than me who believe the catastrophic wildfires that now flame the width of our western states from Canada to Mexico are because “God has darn-near had enough!” Just yesterday in California a law was passed that will allow transgender prisoners to decide if they want to do their time in men’s or women’s state prison! But the better view is that states ... (click for more)
