Velma Norris Johnson, 100, of Dalton passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Nora Lee Norris; step mother, Mrs. Annie Norris; husband, William Johnson; daughter, Helen Coker and brothers, R.C., Emmit, Rubin and Larry Dean Norris.

Mrs. Velma was a member of Carolyn Baptist Church.  She loved making quilts and restoring old dolls.  She won many blue ribbons for her sewing ability.  She was always sewing and creating for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nora Lee and George Ogle; granddaughters, Suzanne (Mark) Omienanski and Beth (Bob) Pipkin;  grandson,  Stephen (Holly) Williams; great-grandsons, Benjamin, Matthew and Michael Pipkin and Nicholas Williams.  She is also survived by her brothers, James Norris, Troy Norris, Billy Norris, Cecil (Carolyn) Norris, and William (Ola Mae) Norris and her sister-in-law Evelyn Hamby along with many nieces and nephews; special friends, Brenda and Elizabeth Langston, Little Grayvn Thomas – who gave her many happy hours while visiting her in the nursing home.

The family will have a private family service at Love Funeral Home.

She will be laid to rest in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
