U.S. Army Veteran Retired From Careers In Long Haul Trucking And Real Estate

Anthony Dwain Middlebrooks, 61, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2020, at his residence.

Anthony was known by family as “Wayne” and to friends as “Tony”.

Wayne was born in 1958 to the late David L. Middlebrooks, Sr. and Annie Middlebrooks Porch.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the 80s under the teachings of the late Pastor Joseph Harper. He was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School and Draughons Junior College where he received his degree in Business Management. He was a veteran and served his Country honorably in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division, receiving a Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal before completing his service. He then began a lifelong career in long haul trucking and real estate in which he retired. His passion was real estate where he loved meeting new people and helping families and individuals find their forever home. He was currently employed by River City Security.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, David L Middlebrooks and Annie L Porch; his fathe-in-law, James Tate, Sr; one brother, David “Teddy” Middlebrooks; two brothers-in-law, James Tate, Jr. and Jerome “Crush” Merrell; two sisters, Cheryl Payne and Christine Middlebrooks and a niece, Jasmine Knight.

He will be missed and forever cherished by his wife, Teresa Middlebrooks; his daughters, Anita (Ashley) Johnson and Toni Middlebrooks; two grandchildren, Austyn Johnson and Ashton Johnson; his mother in law, Loretta Tate; his sisters, Patricia Merrell and Tonia Rogers; his sister in law, Jackie Knight; three brother in laws, Lexzell Tate, Lonzell (Rita) Tate and Kelvin (Keisha) Tate; his uncle, William (Priscilla) Middlebrooks; his nieces, Daphne Merrell, Destinye Pearce, Erica Rivers, Kermesha Tate, Precious Carpenter, Tamara Doss and Tialmra Doss; his nephews, Christopher Rivers, Eric Payne, Eric Knight, Jerrell (Aranda) Tate, Jerrod Merrell, Montrell (Lakendria)Tate, Marcus Hawkins, Montreal McKinney, Tyron Doss; two special cousins, Kenneth (Carol) Pulliam and Deborah Foreman; a dear friend that he spoke to nightly, Sully Batts and a host of other relatives, friends and colleagues. 

Public viewing will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, with a graveside service to follow. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery
