Betty Fay Shelton, 81, of Benton, passed away Tuesday night, June 30, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She has lived in Benton for 31 years, where she built a home with her husband and seven children. She loved to camp, craft, scrapbook and square dance. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family the most.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Shelton; her mother and father, Hoyte and Elender Elders; brother, Bobby Elders; daughter, Donna Shelton; grandsons, Tony, Justin and James; and a granddaughter, Toni.
She is survived by her six children, Barbara (Robin) Brocksmith, of Benton, Penny Pray, of Benton, Donnie (Jewell) Turner, of Benton, Charlotte Hardin, of Benton, Michelle (Little) Keith, of Benton and Lynn (Amy) Shelton, of Conyers, Ga.; sister, Sue Howard of Lafayette; brother, Sonny (Charlotte) Elders, of Lafayette; half-sister, Wanda Carr Green, of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 5 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Spears officiating. Interment will follow at Delano Cemetery with Ross Adams, Huey Adams, Mark Sayne, Josh Eubanks, Robbie Powell and Chris Moses serving as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service.
