U.S. Marine Veteran Was Purple Heart Recipient

James Lee Watson, Sr., 72, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

He was born on May 20, 1948 in LaFayette, Ga., to his late parents, Willie Watson and Betty Jean Wright Watson. He attended Hill High School and New Bethel Christian Fellowship Church. He was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran and he was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Watson was preceded by his wife, Pam Underwood Watson.

Survivors are his children, sons, James Lee (Mary) Watson, Jr., Dominque Covington Watson of LaFayette, Georgia; daughters, Brittania J. Watson of Rossville, Georgia, Marissa (Nick) Camp, Tiffany (Manny) Rodriguez of Ringgold, Georgia, and Alexis Watson of Rossville; seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; sister, Linda D. Spates; brother, Willie Blue Dot (Candice) Watson; sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law, Ronald Underwood, Sandra Bodie, Peggy Underwood; uncle, Sonny Carson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside service and interment will be on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, with Pastor Ken Carson officiating.

The family will receive friends at New Bethel Christian Fellowship Church, 4009 Round Pond Road, LaFayette, Ga. 30728, on Thursday from 6–7:30 p.m.

Arrangements are by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Ga.
