While quarantine caused many cancellations this year, green|spaces’ Eco Field Day event is
back with a socially distanced, scavenger hunt twist.
From July 7 to July 27, families, individual kids or adults and corporate teams can sign up for
Eco Field Day @ Home. Then, beginning July 29, a re-imagined Eco Field Day provides a virtual
week of eco-activities ranging from virtual challenges, trivia questions and local resources
connections.
Each challenge is centered around a local environmental theme and participants earn green
stars along the way for the opportunity to win a number of prizes, all while improving their
environmental savvy.
“2020 marked the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, so while the original date planned for the
event this past spring was cancelled due to coronavirus, we really wanted to do something to
still celebrate,” said green|spaces’ Program Director Kelley Cureton. “We wanted to create
something that would appeal and engage both families and corporate teams this
summer.”
With a diverse range of rewards on the corporate team side, participants can win prizes of up to
$1,000 in value; like a free green|leader eight-week sustainability certification program. Family, kid
and individual prizes will be offered as well, including zero-waste starter kits, pollinator packs,
local attraction memberships and more, Ms. Cureton said.
