Dr. Russell Dyer, director of Cleveland City Schools, announced Kerry O'Connor will be the new assistant principal at Ross Elementary and Yates Primary effective Oct. 12.

Mr. O’Connor will be joining Dr. Stephanie Stone‘s administrative team alongside Mr. Zach Riggins as she assumes the principalship of both Ross Elementary and Yates Primary in October.

Mr. O’Connor previously served for seven years at Cleveland Middle School as a special education teacher and special services coordinator. He has held the role of behavior support specialist working across the school district over the past two years.

Dr. Dyer expressed his support for Mr. O’Connor in this new role by stating, “Kerry O’Connor is an energetic and positive school leader that focuses on students at all times. He will make an excellent addition to the already outstanding leadership team at Ross Elementary and Yates Primary. I am excited to see the impact his leadership makes on both schools.”

The Cleveland City Schools’ Behavior Support Specialist role will be posted to the human resources website today, and the application process will begin immediately. Cleveland City Schools continues to work toward the goal of improving the overall connection between Ross Elementary and Yates Primary for both students and staff. This addition to the leadership team is one more positive step in that direction, said officials.
