Chairman Alexander Agrees Time To End Surprise Medical Billing

  • Thursday, September 24, 2020

Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander on Thursday released the following statement after President Trump called on Congress to end surprise medical billing by Jan. 1, 2021:

“The President is right to call on Congress to pass legislation this year to end surprise medical billing. The bipartisan, bicameral legislation that is supported by three committees and more than two dozen senators led by Senators Cassidy and Hassan answers the President’s call and creates a transparent, market-based solution that is fair to providers and insurers.

Ending surprise medical bills is a problem that requires a permanent solution passed by Congress this year. The American people can’t afford to wait any longer.”
