EdTech Magazine selected Greg Bagby, coordinator of instructional technology for Hamilton County Schools, as one of the Top 30 K-12 Technology Leaders to Follow for 2020.

Mr. Bagby is a former principal who has been busy for the school district with the necessity of online learning due to the pandemic.  Mr. Bagby was selected among other educational professionals, including the savviest K–12 IT leaders, bloggers, podcasters and social media personalities.  EdTech also recognized him for discussing educational technology on social media accounts and co-moderating #EdTechChat and #TnEdChat on Twitter.

Officials said, "The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic were a big part of technology challenges for educators in 2020.  EdTech Magazine recognized the advances made by educators across the country this year.  Still, in announcing their list of tech leaders to follow, the publication acknowledged the need to continue to learn new ways of using technology."

“To stay agile in a rapidly evolving world, schools and districts will need to be on top of the latest ed-tech trends and offerings, even more than they were before the pandemic,” EdTech wrote in their announcement of the new Top 30. “To help, EdTech has compiled a list of influencers who are using social and digital media to inform, engage and entertain those in the education space.”

“2020 has been a momentous year that has presented many challenges building teacher capacity to use the many online tools needed to teach students remotely,” said Mr. Bagby.  “Teaching the basic use of the tools has left little time for helping teachers and students really use EdTech well and design enriching and engaging activities.”

2020 has been a big year for Mr. Bagby.  He earned Microsoft Innovative Educator Master Trainer status and is recognized as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert.  He enjoys working with teachers to reach their students with technology and leaving them better equipped to accomplish academic goals.
