John Franklin Thomas, Jr. of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, celebrated his 75th birthday with his Lord in heaven on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.
John was born on Jan. 21, 1946 to John and Earlene Thomas, Sr. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Straightway Baptist Church. John had a career working in auto paint and body shops and was considered one of the best ever in his position. John loved deer hunting, gardening, and dabbling in carpentry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Earlene Thomas, Sr.; sons, Michael Thomas and John Allen Thomas; and sisters, Sandra Kennemore and Judy Wells.
John leaves his memories to his wife of 37 years, Shirley Lees Thomas; daughter, Roseanne Chapman; step-sons, Steve A. Johnston and Gary Allen Johnston; brothers, Bobby Thomas, David Thomas and Kevin Thomas; sisters, Nancy Smith and Rita Appleton; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family will have visitation on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 9-11 a.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, TN.
The funeral will be held in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home following the visitation at 11:00 am CT with Deacon Brent Smith officiating.
John will be laid to rest following the funeral service at New Hope Cemetery, Pine Grove Road, New Hope, TN.
