Allison Kerr Brownfield left us to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.  A joyous reunion is taking place with her loved ones, and especially with her father, Coach Jim Smiddy of Bradley Central High School, who she dearly missed.

Allison was born on October 5, 1961, and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee by her parents, Jim and Gloria Smiddy. She married Mathew Brownfield on August 29, 2015, and they lived in East Brainerd with their sweet bulldog, Baxter, who brought her great joy.

Her parents taught her the value of hard work at an early age and she helped them with their rental properties, was a lifeguard, and even managed a KFC as a teenager. She graduated from Bradley Central High School, and attended the University of Oklahoma. She lived and worked in the oil industry in Oklahoma and Texas for many years.

Multiple strokes and other physical infirmities caused her to retire in 2004, and return to Cleveland. Often being in pain, she woke each morning thankful to have another day from God.  Allison’s heart led her to continue to help others. She supported the Unity Center after school program for children in Cleveland and the American Heart Association, volunteered at Legal Aid of East Tennessee, and was on an usher team with her husband at Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. She loved being a member of Chattanooga Elks Lodge #91.

She is survived by her husband, Mathew; her mother, Gloria Smiddy; her brother Kevin Kerr; her sister Judith Lesko; her daughter Britney, her granddaughters Caden and Breanna, her grandson Hunter, her niece Kirby Standifer, her nephew James Standifer; her birth father Charles Kerr; and many other friends and loved ones. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Christ United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 8, at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, in the funeral home chapel.
