After finishing the previous night 30th out of 30 racers in the World of Outlaw Late Model series feature, Brandon Overton (#76) of Evans, Ga. turned everything around Friday leading all 40 laps of round #5 of the DirtCar Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park outside Daytona.
Overton and his Wells Motorsports team apparently went through both cars overnight in the pits to create the best of his team's machines.
Also of note, Bobby Pierce scratched from his outside front row starting position with mechanical problems on his racecar, putting Overton alongside Kyle Bronson of Middlesburg, Fl. for the start.
Challenges for the runner-up spot were aplenty which included Bronson and Thursday's winner Devin Moran of Ohio. Chris Madden (SC) was 4th behind Moran and Bronson respectively, with Pennsylvania's Rick Eckert rounding out the Top 5 finishers.
Defending WoOLM champion Brandon Shepard of Illinois is still winless in 2021 and Friday was 11th overall. Chickamauga's Dale McDowell was 14th and Tennessean Scott Bloomquist was 21st.
The Speedweeks wrap up at VSP Saturday night with the $10,000 to-win finale live in front of the DirtVision.com cameras for subscribers of the website.
