Mocs Announce 2021 Beach Volleyball Schedule
Tuesday, February 23, 2021
In its second season as a NCAA Division I program, the Chattanooga Mocs Beach Volleyball squad and head coach Darin Van Horn have finalized its 2021 spring schedule which kicks off March 10.
An affiliate member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), Chattanooga has scheduled 10 regular season match dates before taking part in the OVC Championships April 29 – May 1.
The Mocs were only able to play two matches in its inaugural year last season before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down competition around the world.
"Our staff and student-athletes are anxious to get out there and compete," said Van Horn.
"We are grateful to have a few non-conference duals that will be great learning and challenge experiences, especially against highly successful programs like Georgia State."
Chattanooga opens the season at Georgia State on Wednesday, March 10 for a tri-match against the Panthers starting at 10 a.m. Alongside UTC, GSU, Mercer and Coastal Carolina will be participating in Atlanta.
Chattanooga hosts its first home match, a doubleheader, against Carson-Newman at the UTC Sports Complex on March 16. The Mocs then travel to North Alabama for a non-conference matchup on March 19.
The OVC schedule opens with a dual in Jacksonville, Ala., against Jacksonville State on April 22. UTC and JSU will meet again at the UTC Sports Complex for two more on April 22.
The conference slate continues April 24-25 in Richmond, Ky., against EKU before the OVC Championships take place in Martin, Tenn., April 29 – May 1.
"It's thrilling to be in the inaugural OVC season. We missed out on it last year and we are excited to battle against our new conference opponents," added Van Horn.
Further updates including spectator guidelines and protocols will be announced leading up to the first home event.
