Siskin Hospital announces its Caring After COVID Program for patients who are recovering from the coronavirus.
A year into the COVID-19 pandemic has well demonstrated the debilitating long-term effects this virus can have on patients,” said President and CEO Dr. Matthew Gibson. “The Caring After COVID program meets patients where they are, whether they need inpatient or outpatient services, or access to our medical model fitness center.”
The coronavirus has been shown to cause a variety of serious medical complications, often rendering individuals unable to perform daily activities at a previous level of function. While post-COVID effects can vary among individuals, the most common conditions are deconditioning, weakness and fatigue. COVID-19 survivors may also suffer from a variety of impairments, including respiratory difficulties, cognitive issues such as memory loss and difficulty concentrating, and psychological problems.
Siskin Hospital’s experts in physical and occupational therapy, respiratory, speech-language pathology and neuropsychology design individualized treatment programs that help patients meet their therapy goals. Therapy services are available throughout its continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient and medical model fitness center. Outpatient treatments are available in-person and via telehealth in Cleveland, East Brainerd, Hixson and downtown Chattanooga.
