James David Ramsey, 90, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, in a local assisted living facility. 

He was born in Chattanooga, and has lived in Cleveland for over 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Ramsey was a store manager at Sherwin-Williams for many years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Madge R. Ramsey; parents, James and Mattie Ramsey; and sister, Shirley Ramsey.

He is survived by his son, Michael “Ed” Ramsey and wife, Robin of Lenoir City, TN; daughter, Laurin “Becky” Guthrie and husband Ken of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Detty and husband Steven of Arlington, TX, Abby Lauren Brown and husband, Cameron of Lenoir City, TN, and Emily Anne Guthrie and husband, Michael Aurand of Nashville; and great-grandchildren, Arlen Turner, Cambrey Brown, and Sora Vee Brown.

A private graveside celebration of his life will be conducted on Tuesday, March 9, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Jim Gibson officiating.  The playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church.
