Covenant Tennis Wins 7-2 At Transylvania

The Covenant men's tennis team defeated Transylvania on the road 7-2 Tuesday afternoon. The win marks the Scots' fourth consecutive victory.
Covenant recorded its first victory in the No. 3 slot, as Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn defeated Jon-Michael Schulte and Jared Wells, 8-4.
The Pioneers won the next two doubles matches very closely, both going into tie breaks. Ben Luke and Paxton Haggerty were topped by Nick McNamee and Noah McNamee at the No. 2 spot, 7-8 (5-7). Soon after, Solomon Crouch and Austin Dreslinski lost at the No.
1 slot to Arjun Gupta and Elijah Skaggs with the same score of 7-8 (5-7).
From there, though, the Scots would win all six singles matches, after being down 1-2 after the doubles portions.
Luke continued his impressive singles play at the No. 1 slot, beating Gupta 6-3, 6-3. The victory marks eight in a row for Luke.
At the No. 2 spot, Dreslinski topped Nick McNamee, 6-2, 6-1, while Gibson defeated Noah McNamee, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3.
Slots No. 4 and No. 5 singles both went to three sets, with Cameron Cortman and Crouch coming out on top. And Dunn brought in the seventh win for Covenant with his 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hunter Gregg at the No. 6 spot.
The victory improves the Scots to 11-4 overall.
Covenant will return home to face Maryville on Saturday, April 17. Match time is scheduled for 1:30pm EDT.
