Woman Of God Was The Backbone Of Her Family

Flora Jean Griffith, 83 years young, born April 1, 1938, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021. She was born in Elora, Tn., to the late Bervin and June McCreless.

Mrs. Griffith was a woman of God - the backbone of her family - for whom she lived and served her life. Family, and loving all who came into her life, was her purpose. She was wife and grandmother to many. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she and her late husband served faithfully as janitors for over 36 years. 

Her husband of 57 years, Carl Edward “Candyman” Griffith, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her three children, Rick (Sherri) Griffith, Randy (Teresa) Griffith and daughter Lori Tatum; brother, William McCreless and sister, Peggy McCreless; seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.  

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 16, from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, from 10-11 a.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The funeral will be on Friday, June 18, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
