Norman A. Hill, 82, of Chattanooga, transitioned on June 13, 2024, at home.

He was a 1961 graduate of G.W. Carver High School in Newport News, Va. Norman was of the Baptist faith and was a past member of Glenarden Baptist Church in Bowie, Md. He was also a Master Mason with Widow Son Masonic Lodge #7, Washington, D.C.

Norman was a proud US Army Veteran who served as a paratrooper, staff sergeant and Jumpmaster 101 with the 101st Airborne Division (the “Screaming Eagle”). He served in combat and received numerous medals, including the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0291, Chattanooga.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ether Hill; sister, Dorothy Davis; and brothers, Bobby Hill, Theodore Hill, Jr., and Arthus Hill.

Survivors include his loving wife, Bettye Hill of 55 years; daughter, Simone Renee Hill; loving grandson, Isaiah Anthoney Hill; loving sister, Edith J. Hill of Hampton, Ga.; and a host of relatives and friends throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Maryland, New York, District of Columbia and Virginia.

Graveside and interment services will be on Friday, June 21, at 2 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
