A member of Civil Air Patrol's Choo Choo Senior Squadron for almost three years, 1st Lt. Steve Rastatter was awarded the Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Leadership Award by his squadron commander, 1st Lt. Charles "Ed" Dempsey.
The award is named for the aviation pioneer and commander of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.
As part of the professional development track that leads to the award, 1st Lt. Rastatter achieved the Technician Rating in Safety. He has served as the safety officer for the squadron for the last couple years, and according to 1st Lt. Dempsey, "Steve has been one of the most valuable members of the squadron over the last year or so, helping us stay safe and in compliance with CAP regulations through the Covid-19 environment".
1st Lt. Rastatter works with his wife, Kelly, in their family-operated real estate development business, primarily serving the Chattanooga community.
