Robert “Bob” Burrell, 82, of Flintstone, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family and many friends.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Chattanooga Valley High School. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1962 and upon completion of his military service became employed with Tennessee American Water Company in Chattanooga, Tn. Bob was employed for 37 years and retired as Supervisor in the Engineering Department in 1999. Bob enjoyed the numerous occasions on Chickamauga Lake with his family, friends, and TAW colleagues camping, boating, and most of all water skiing. In his later years he enjoyed spending time cultivating his garden and working diligently on his lawn - in particular maintaining his beautiful roses and various other flowers. He gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age and lived faithfully for Him his entire life. He was a member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church for 70 years and presently a member of Valley View Baptist Church.

He and his loving wife, Betty Cobble Burrell, just recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Bob was a man who put his Lord first and was devoted to his family. He leaves a long legacy of selfless love that will forever resonate with his family. Bob’s sons were his pride and joy and his granddaughter, Casey Leigh Burrell, was the apple of his eye.  In the most recent months, he was looking forward to seeing his newest namesake, a great-granddaughter, Coraline Leigh Praino.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Otsie Shannon Pitman, and step-father, L.H. “Junior” Pitman, and father, Verdman Burrell; grandmother, Maggie Burrell and most recently his beloved nephew, Mike Burrell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Cobble Burrell; sons Barry Lee (Jennifer Armstrong Stone) Burrell of Jupiter, FL, Dale Burrell of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Casey Leigh Burrell (Cory Praino) and great-granddaughters, Lily and Zoey; brothers, William (Brenda) Burrell, Ben (Cheryl) Pitman, and Joe Pitman; nieces Tammy Tracy, Dana (Todd) Derryberry, Nicole Pitman, Ashley West and her spouse; great nieces Emily (Ben) McDaniel, Hailey, Brandon (Heidi), Ava, Lucas, Ray and Chloe; and other great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 12:30 p.m. in the Valley View Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Lookout Cemetery.

Masks are preferred when entering the church sanctuary, but not mandatory; a satellite room will be provided for those who wish to wear masks. The service will also be available by FM radio on 98.5.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Valley View Baptist Church at 6994 Highway 193, Flintstone, or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Condolences may be shared at lane-southcrestchapel.com.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour in the church.
